Hydrated Lime
We have developed 2 unique dispersants for hydrated lime slurries. They are particularly beneficial in high-solids slurries, as they can reduce the viscosity substantially.
They are marketed as the HydraFlow "H" Series.
Features And Benefits
- They enable the level of solids in a lime slurry to be increased to around 50% while still maintaining flowability.
- With intermittent agitation, they will keep a lime slurry thinned down indefinitely.
- Transport/handling costs per tonne of solids can be substantially reduced in comparison with lower-solids slurries.
- Equipment blockages are minimised due to the lower viscosity and improved flow characteristics.
- Storage and handling are much easier than for bulk lime.
- Worker safety is improved - no dust!
- Non-toxic and therefore safe for most applications.
- Very cost-effective, as dosage rates are very low!
HydraFlow H100
Gives the most effective initial drop in viscosity. There may be some longer term viscosity 'creep' over time if the slurry is not agitated occasionally.
| Typical Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Description | A blend of a modified acrylic polymer and an organic base material (patent pending) |
| Appearance | Pale brown, clear liquid |
| Odour | Pleasant odour |
| pH | 3.8-4.2 |
| Solids content | 50% approx |
| Specific Gravity | 1.15 kg/litre approx |
| Typical Dosage | For a lime slurry with 50% solids: 0.4% of weight of lime (4 kg per tonne of lime) |
| Hazard Rating | Classified as non-hazardous according to the criteria of Worksafe Australia |
| Storage | We recommend that this product is stored indoors at temperatures above +5°C. Some minor crystallisation may occur at lower temperatures, but the product will reconstitute on warming. If product freezes, mix thoroughly after thawing Shelf life: min. 12 months under normal conditions |
| Pack Sizes | 20 litre, 200 litre, 1000 litre and bulk. |
HydraFlow H200
Provides an initial drop in viscosity (although not as effective as HydraFlow H100), and maintains a low viscosity for an extended period. Beneficial if the slurry sits in pipes and dosing equipment without agitation.
